coconut-key lime bars

Posted on: April 13th, 2012 by Two Tiny Kitchens 3 Comments

OK, Ashley and I have noticed a trend in our post write-ups: easy and delicious.  Although we do love a challenge when we have some extra time (and I swear it’s not due to an uncreative or unimaginative vocabulary!), easy and delicious just seem to be our style.  So here’s another amazingly easy and delicious recipe that we highly recommend.  Seriously, even if you’re not a big coconut or lime fan, you could really enjoy these treats.  And by the way, we tried a few other disappointing coconut and lime recipes (love you Martha, but this pie was deceptively beautiful) before striking gold with this one.  So when we say delicious, we MEAN delicious!  Promise.

orange roll pull-apart bread

Posted on: March 23rd, 2012 by Two Tiny Kitchens 3 Comments

I booked-marked a recipe for lemon pull-apart bread over two years ago, and I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. Why didn’t I make it sooner? One word: yeast . . . and another word: laziness. Yeah, yeast intimidates me (which I’m finding out isn’t so uncommon). But then last week, fate struck: Anna sent me the exact same recipe for pull-apart bread, saying she couldn’t wait to try it! Choosing to see this as a sign, I decided it was time to man up.

We decided to make orange pull-apart bread, rather than lemon, as our take on orange rolls. (Possibly our best idea ever!?) This bread was every bit as delicious as I dreamed it would be. The best part? It’s not nearly as difficult to make as I anticipated. The dough comes together easily, so if you’re looking to conquer your yeast phobia too, this orange roll pull-apart bread is the perfect place to start!

chocolate covered cherry cookies

Posted on: December 8th, 2011 by Two Tiny Kitchens 4 Comments

The moment I saw these I knew I had to make them.  Chocolate covered cherries in cookie form?  YES!  They were festive, different, easy, and delish.  Fun new twist for a cookie exchange this season.  Here’s the only thing, personally I would much prefer a fudgier (that does not look right, is that a word?) cookie, so next time I’m going to try these cookie/brownie recipe from my Marshmallow Brownie Bites.  That’s just me, but I still found every bite of these very tasty and really enjoyed sharing them! white chocolate and cranberry oatmeal cookies

Posted on: July 12th, 2010 by Two Tiny Kitchens 4 Comments

Did you know they changed the oatmeal cookie recipe on the Quaker Oats box?  It’s true!  I make them so often that I recognized the difference right away, less butter AND less sugar.  That’s just not right.  I was making these for a Kyoukai no Shokujikai (OK, really it was just our church potluck), but I hadn’t planned to post the recipe.  “It’s always available on the box,” I told myself.  (more…)

raspberry vanilla cake with lemon curd filling

I apologize in advance for this long-winded explanation.  I am indecisive by nature, probably my biggest weakness.  This indecision can lead to disproportional amounts of anxiety over such mundane decisions as “paper or plastic?”  Obviously it’s going to cause a lot of problems when I’m baking.  (more…)

peach cobbler

First, YUUUUUMMMMMMM!  This peach cobbler was one of the first food blog recipes I ever tried.  Last summer I found a version, using nectarines and cream, over at Joy the Baker.  I’d never made cobbler before, probably never even eaten it.  But it just looked so easy and I had some peaches on hand, so I thought, why not?  Thank goodness the stars were aligned.  (more…)

strawberry shortcake cake

Posted on: June 6th, 2010 by Two Tiny Kitchens 9 Comments

I was starting to feel like every single post was some shade of the predictable baking brown.  That’s mainly because they all include very delicious brownish things; brown sugar, chocolate, butter, etc.  But the page and my palate were due for a little color, wouldn’t you agree?  So, time for some fruit.  Now this recipe looked bright and cheery enough, but  I had my doubts.  Strawberry shortcake…cake?  (more…)
