Our first  post after more than a month is a lot of pressure!  I confess to major baking burn out after the holidays.  I had a few large orders to fill, not to mention the extreme baking done for family, friends, teachers, neighbors, and, well, you get the picture.  I enjoyed it thoroughly up until the very end, and then I crashed.  Took me a long while to detox, but I’m on the mend!  (more…)

Yum, yum, yum!  I love the idea of red velvet cupcakes, but they never turn out as tender and moist as I imagine they should be.  I’ve made a few recipes from scratch and I’m just never quite satisfied.  Until now.  Ashley suggested doctoring up a cake mix sorta like her pistachio cupcake recipe, and the results are super tasty!  Really, these were very rich, moist and just what I’d imagined a red velvet cupcake could and should be.  They were a fun, super easy valentine treat to make with the kids using a little trick I saw over at Cafe Ina(more…)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Not in this case.  Just couldn’t capture the allure of these bars with a photo.  The name gives you a better idea of their decadence, but to truly understand these must be eaten.  Probably the most addictive things I’ve posted so far, and that’s saying a whole lot.  I made them on a Tuesday afternoon to share with friends the next day.  (more…)
